Leadership Domain
The Health Services Administration program at ODU includes a minor in management. Courses in management, including Human Resources, Employee Relations, Organizational Behavior, and Employment Law, provide a solid foundation for management skills needed in the workforce. These courses equipped me with essential skills such as conflict resolution, maintaining a positive environment, and understanding the impact of various leadership styles. These classes have prepared me to step into a management role capable of leading a diverse force, making informed decisions, and contributing to organizational success.
Human Resources Management:

I am choosing to highlight Human Resources Management for the Leadership Domain of the LeADERS program. The HR management course emphasized integral aspects of human resources within an organization. The course enhanced my understanding of the importance of business strategy to human resources plan, and we stepped through the human resource management skills and tasks, including recruitment, selection, training and development, and compensation. The structure of this course included segmented lectures with quizzes that reinforced my knowledge and analytical skills to make decisions as an informed leader. This course emphasized continuous learning, professional development, and how essential it is to adapt and evolve to stay current in a dynamic employment landscape. Overall, this course laid the groundwork to lead with knowledge and uphold best practices in human resource management.
